Bitz Films Announces Elon: A Provocative, Genre-Bending Biopic That Humanizes the World’s Most Controversial Technologist
San Francisco, CA (September 9, 2025) –
Bitz Films, a San Francisco based startup reinventing vertical storytelling with emerging technology and business models, today announced the upcoming release of Elon, a provocative, genre-bending vertical biopic that explores Elon Musk’s life. Shot for a fraction of the cost and time of traditional filmmaking, the project reimagines the traditional $30M biopic with bold narrative ambition, the responsible use of cutting-edge AI technologies, and a steadfast commitment to independent creative expression.
Blending intimate drama with speculative sci-fi, Elon weaves together moments of triumph, failure, heartbreak, and emotional poignancy. Viewers follow Elon Musk’s journey from the explosive early failures at SpaceX to the breathtaking triumph of its fourth launch, through the unraveling of his first marriage, the emotional complexities surrounding Vivian’s gender transition, the high-stakes Twitter acquisition, and his journey to Mars via a neuralinked cryogenic chamber.
Bitz Films will debut Elon on October 10, 2025, with a pay-to-unlock episodic release model — a distribution approach popularized by vertical micro-dramas but groundbreaking for a feature-length premiere. A portion of the episodes will be available to watch for free, with the remainder accessible through unlocks. The series will premiere exclusively on BitzFilms.com before being licensed to major short-drama distributors.
“Elon Musk is one of the most polarizing and influential figures of our time. He’s at the intersection of technology, culture, and business. Whether you admire him or criticize him, he sparks global conversation and that makes him a compelling subject to explore,” said Bitz Films co-founder Lei Zhang. “With Elon, we set out to humanize him. This is about the man behind the myth, told through a visual language that’s native to today’s vertical-first world.”
Starring in the vertical biopic are Kaleb Brand as Elon Musk, and Jamie Hughes as Justine Musk. The original screenplay was written by Matthew Syrett, an award-winning producer and screenwriter. He is best known for producing the Academy Award-winning documentary Freeheld and being the lead story producer for the Netflix series Merpeople. Elon was directed by Kathryn Wyatt and produced by Andrew Pearce and Karbis Sarafyan, with Serena Jiang serving as Executive Producer. The project was developed and produced by Bitz Films, which funded the production, sourced the creative team, and guided the script’s development to shape the story and bring the vertical-first vision to life.
Creator-Driven Vision
Elon is the first in a slate of creator-driven projects funded by Bitz Films as part of its mission to build an open platform for meaningful vertical storytelling — one where creators maintain creative control and will eventually share in the long-term upside of their work.
The company also aims to offer a thoughtful, creator-focused alternative to the current wave of vertical content, much of which is produced rapidly, often overseas, and tends to rely on broad genre tropes. Bitz Films seeks to elevate the space with higher-quality storytelling, cultural nuance, and intentional, responsible use of emerging AI tools.
